TARP Repayments

Today begins the scheduled repayments of the federal government's TARP loans. Fortunately, TARP is a very unattractive term to the banking industry and as a result, banks will work as hard as possible to repay the loans and avoid the negative publicity associated with TARP.

Banks may return $68.3 Billion out of $244.4 Billion. That still leaves $85.3 Billion for the automobile industry, $69.8 billion for AIG, and $35.2 Billion in other TARP loans. The question that still remains is whether or not the other industries will value TARP the same.
