George Washington on Government
I ran across this quote from George Washington a few weeks ago. It has made me wonder how the American people view the federal government as a whole from the economic (specifically freedom of commerce) viewpoint. I would like to see a survey of what Americans believe the spending to GDP for the federal government is.
"Government is not reason; it is not eloquent -- it is force. Like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master."
